Athletic Brewing Company, best known as a maker of non-alcoholic beers, is entering the sports fuel market with a line of calorie-free gels, Dumb Runner has learned.

The company’s “Zero-Energy” gels will be sold wherever traditional sports fuel products are available, according to a news release, priced at $1.49 each or $26.99 for a case of 24.

“Athletic Brewing has enjoyed tremendous success as a brewer of non-alcoholic beer that doesn’t compromise on quality and taste,” said Gerry Rafferty, a spokesperson for Athletic Brewing and a longtime runner. “Our new non-caloric sports gels are a natural extension of our brand, and one that we’re very excited about.”

With flavors including Citrus, Raspberry, and Fresh Pine, the gels are aimed at “athletes who want all the great taste of a gel without the calories,” Rafferty said.

“We really think this will change the way athletes look at fueling,” he added.
