Sex the Night Before a Marathon Is Fine, Says National Association of Horny Marathoners

Will having sex the night before an athletic event affect your performance?

It’s an age-old question that’s been argued for decades, and today a group representing runners across the U.S. has weighed in—firmly on the “pro-sex” side of the debate.

“Getting some action before a race, whether it’s a 5K or a 100-miler, is perfectly fine,” said a statement released this morning by the National Association of Horny Marathoners (NAHM). “In fact, it’s great.”

“Frankly,” the statement added, “we’re getting sort of hot just thinking about it.”

For years, some coaches and athletes have considered sex the night before a big event verboten, fearing it could sap their energy or otherwise hamper their effort the next day. NAHM researchers found no such effect, the statement said.

“For a definitive answer to this question, we set out to review half a dozen studies on the subject,” said the group’s president, Eddie Adams. “We didn’t make it very far, because halfway through the first one we got so turned on, we had to take a break.”

“Still, we had seen enough,” said Adams. “That, plus a mountain of anecdotal evidence, convinced us that going at it before a race isn’t just OK, but awesome.”

Adams said he encouraged runners everywhere to engage in hot, uninhibited action whenever and wherever they felt the urge.

“And if anyone reading this has questions about our findings, they should feel free to contact me directly, via our website,” Adams added. “Please include a photo.”
